Cisco & Terma Software Labs Announce Strategic Product Integration

CISCO’S WORKLOAD AUTOMATION SOLUTION INCORPORATES ADVANCED PREDICTIVE AND HISTORICAL ANALYTICS TO ENHANCE AND EXTEND DECISION MAKING FOR ENTERPRISE–WIDE BUSINESS PROCESSING, November 1, 2011 —

Cisco’s Intelligent Automation Business Unit and Terma Software Labs Inc today announced the integration of Cisco Tidal Enterprise Scheduler and JAWS Workload Analytics. The combined solution will enable users of Cisco Tidal Enterprise Scheduler to further align their workload processing environments with the needs of the business by leveraging JAWS to visualize workload performance as it relates to Service Level Agreements (SLA’s). In addition, users will be able to dramatically reduce business processing risks by taking advantage of predictive analytics to understand future performance, enabling a highly proactive workload processing environment.

“In speaking with many users of workload automation solutions, we continue to hear a need for better understanding and efficient management of workload performance.” said Torsten Volk, Senior Analyst at Enterprise Management Associates. “Tidal Enterprise Scheduler is at the heart of Cisco’s Intelligent Automation Strategy. JAWS will extend the functionality adding a layer of sophisticated analytics to ensure on-time SLA driven job completion.”

Workload Automation is a key enabler to business success in today’s enterprise. As data center complexity grows, SLA delivery times shorten and business demands becomes more event-driven, the need to automate is imperative. However, only automation with historic and real-time environmental visibility can produce the requisite infrastructure awareness necessary to ensure business processes complete in accordance with defined SLAs. Cisco Tidal Enterprise Scheduler users will benefit from the following functionality in JAWS:

  • Performance Intelligence (Predictive, Real Time, Historical, Business)
  • SLA Assurance
  • Critical Path Visualization
  • Machine & Resource Correlation
  • Flexible Reporting

“Extra Technology has been a long time partner and technology subject matter expert for both Cisco Tidal Enterprise Scheduler and JAWS”, said Mark Mannion, Managing Director of Extra Technology Limited. “Our Cisco workload automation customers have been asking for extended analytics, prediction, and SLA awareness to enable them to better manage workload performance. JAWS is a very mature, feature rich solution, and a perfect fit for their needs.”

Terma Software Labs & Stonebranch Announce Strategic Alliance

THE INTEGRATED SOLUTION OF JAWS AND OPSWISE AUTOMATION CENTER TO BE RESOLD BY STONEBRANCH, February 15, 2011 —

Terma Software Labs Inc and Stonebranch today announced a strategic alliance. The partnership enables Stonebranch to resell Terma’s market leading Workload Analytics solution, JAWS, with Stonebranch’s OpsWise Automation Center, the most modern job scheduler on the market. The combined solution will bring together the ease of use, cross platform support in a job scheduling engine that so many enterprises demand, combined with workload performance analytics to ensure business critical jobs complete on time, in accordance with their service level agreement (SLA).

“I’m excited to see two emerging companies in the workload automation space join forces to evolve this market,” said Dennis Drogseth, Vice President of Enterprise Management Associates. “OpsWise Automation Center earned the ’value leader’ award in our most recent WLA Radar Report and JAWS is a workload analytics solution that has quietly been managing workload performance for many Fortune 500 companies. The combination of Stonebranch’s cutting edge solution and the rich workload analytics from Terma will enable IT departments to have an end-to-end workload management solution in true service management context.”

With the majority of enterprise data still being managed via batch, companies have grown to become reliant upon job scheduling engines to support critical business services. As complexity and volume have increased, the need for automation has moved to the forefront. However, automation is only one piece to the puzzle. Without analytical based intelligence, inefficiencies could be automated into processes on a daily basis. Today’s enterprise needs a dynamic, cost effective, workload automation solution that scales to support environments that span from z/OS to distributed systems and even to cloud-based solutions, combined with analytical insight into business, predictive, real-time, and historical performance.

“With the demand for workload analytics increasing, we embarked on executing our workload aggregation strategy to be able to provide to more companies”, added Walter Goodwin, CEO of Terma Software Labs. “The market response and analyst validation made the decision to integrate with OpsWise Automation Center the obvious next step for us.”

The integrated solution is available immediately and those wishing to evaluate and purchase should contact Stonebranch directly. Stonebranch will also act as a reseller of JAWS for CA Workload AE (AutoSys Edition).

“We are excited to be able to continue building the most innovative and reliable workload automation portfolios,” said Wolfgang Bothe, CEO of Stonebranch. “Building upon the strong foundation of our independent agents and file transfer technologies, the recent merger with OpsWise, and now the integration and reseller partnership with Terma, Stonebranch has become an even more compelling and competitive Workload Automation solution.”

Looking Forward to 2011
2011 will see continued growth and expansion into new markets. Building upon the foundation of Terma’s Workload Analytics solution, the company plans to execute on its Workload Aggregation and Workload Broker strategies. Adding to the existing support for data across multi-version and heterogeneous computing environments, Terma will announce multi-vendor support.

“Enabling IT departments to take an analytical approach from all angles to manage workload data not only improves efficiency and reduces risk”, added Jennifer Chisik, CTO of Terma Software Labs “but it also provides the performance and capacity driven workload intelligence that users need to make decisions around resources (physical, virtual, cloud) needed to insure jobs complete on time.”

Bringing all these pieces together will foster evolutionary growth in a market that has emerged from batch management, to job scheduling, to Workload Automation, to the future of “Workload Governance”.

Terma Software Labs Inc., the leader in Workload Automation Analytics, today announced the release of JAWS 3.5. The major highlights of this release are centered on significant architectural changes to support CA Technologies upcoming product releases of CA Workload Automation and CA Spectrum Service Assurance. JAWS 3.5 also features a new Job Trending and Analysis capability, in addition to a number of customer requested GUI enhancements.

CA Workload Automation (formerly CA AutoSys Workload Automation), features a number of new architectural and function changes. The big change, as it relates to JAWS, is the addition of several dozen new job types. With the release of JAWS 3.5, JAWS offers complete and full support of all job types throughout the CA Workload Automation product.

“CA Technologies appreciates that JAWS has been designed to support the upcoming release of CA Workload Automation ,” said Jim Anderson, vice president of Product Management for Workload Automation, CA Technologies. “JAWS has been an integral component to our automation strategy. We’re glad to be able to provide a version of JAWS to customers currently testing our upcoming CA Workload Automation release.”

Building upon a previously announced solution to “Bridge The Gap Between Workload and Business Service Management (BSM)”, JAWS also now supports the CA Spectrum Service Assurance, powered by CA Technologies Unified Service Model.

“With more than 70% of corporate data flowing through the batch, customers need to understand how workload performance impacts critical business services,” added Jim Anderson. “Our CA Workload Automation and CA Spectrum Service Assurance solutions integrated with JAWS can help provide customers the visibility they’ve been looking for.”

JAWS 3.5 also features a New Job Trend and Analysis Reporting Capability. Bridging the Gap: Workload Automation to Business Service Management

TERMA SOFTWARE LABS ANNOUNCES INTEGRATION WITH CA SERVICE ASSURANCE , May 17, 2010 —

Terma Software Labs, the leader in innovative Business Driven Workload Automation solutions, today announced the integration of its JAWS workload automation product with CA Spectrum Service Assurance, the business service management product of the CA Service Assurance portfolio.

Workload Automation, the evolution of batch management and job scheduling, has long been the enabler of processing large volumes of corporate data. Companies have grown to rely on the critical execution of Jobs to maintain the health of their daily business. Now more than ever IT departments are relying on technologies and processes that align their initiatives with the business services they support, in an automated fashion. With analyst data reporting that over 70% of corporate data flows through corporate batch, IT departments must have technology that correlates that data with business services, that is enabled to be governed by service level agreements (SLA), that encompasses predictive analytics to be proactive and not reactive, and most importantly agile in its ability to feed rich heuristics to the wealth of emerging technologies managing today’s Data Centers.

JAWS, from Terma Software Labs, is the industry’s first solution to bridge the gap from Workload Automation to Business Service Management (BSM). JAWS’ unique approach to managing workload by Jobstreams, correlated by Business Application, and managed by SLA, makes it the perfect bridge for this massive technology gap. Leveraging the standard Software Development Kit provided with the CA Spectrum Service Assurance product, Terma developed a connector and embedded a reconciliation layer into JAWS to make this technical integration feasible. CA Spectrum Service Assurance integrates real- time data from both CA Technologies and third-party infrastructure and application performance management tools to build business service models, analyze their quality, and investigate the root cause of problems that impact service or put them at risk.

“Terma has architected JAWS to fit into this Brave New World with a well-thought-out approach to capturing CI attributes and interdependencies in extensible fashion through its modeling,” said Dennis Drogseth, Vice President at Enterprise Management Associates (EMA). “This suggests a broader role for Terma as higher levels of service impact information and automation will be increasingly needed to support more dynamic Cloud services and transaction-centric, real-time requirements for a growing variety of innovative business models.”

The emergence of Business Service Management technologies has done a lot to mature IT Management by bringing together various disciplines within enterprise infrastructure to manage according to business demands, but they have failed or turned a blind eye to one very important piece…workload.

“Workload ranks among the top components of services that must be proactively managed to ensure that IT is efficiently supporting business goals,” said Cliff Meltzer, corporate senior vice president and general manager, Service Assurance business unit, CA Technologies. “Terma JAWS adds deep and predictive understanding of workload to the CA Spectrum Service Assurance product’s end-to-end service modeling and risk analysis.”

For more information about the business value of using JAWS to bridge the gap between Workload Automation and Business Service Management, please download the free white paper authored by EMA titled ”What Terma Software Labs Can Teach the Industry about Business Service Management.

Despite the global economic challenges of 2009, Terma was able to book the highest annual sales revenue since the company’s inception in 2004.
